Members of the Council

The Council is comprised of the Prime Minister and the Chief Negotiator, and the Prime Minister may also invite other eminent leaders of the nation, both past and present.

Negotiating Team

The Negotiation Team, led by the Chief Negotiator, is responsible for conducting negotiations related to maritime boundaries.

The Maritime Boundary Office

The Maritime Boundary Office is the Secretariat for the Council for the Final Delimitation of Maritime Boundaries.

GFM is the acronym for “Gabinete das Fronteiras Marítimas”, which is the Portuguese translation of Maritime Boundary Office.

Prime Minister

The Council for the Final Delimitation of Maritime Boundaries is under the tutelage of the Prime Minister and is responsible for the negotiation of permanent maritime boundaries with Indonesia and Australia.

Chief Negotiator

Pursuant to Government Resolution No. 9 of 2016 dated 3 February 2016, the Council of Ministers appointed His Excellency Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão as the Chief Negotiator and is also a member of the Council.
